Pair Fostoria BAROQUE trindle (triple) candleholders - rare in Regal Blue DESCRIPTION: Fostoria introduced its Baroque pattern in the late 1930s. The elegant plumes of the pattern were the inspiration of French industrial designer George Sakier, who did contract work for Fostoria for decades. The vast majority of the Baroque production was crystal, and much of that was etched, or hand cut. Baroque was made in Topaz and Azure beginning in 1937, but by 1943 most pieces were no longer being made in these colors. It can be a challenge to collect a full set of it in Topaz (particularly the tumblers), and Azure is even more difficult. While most plain pieces of crystal Baroque were discontinued by the early 1940s, some shapes continued to be made as late as the 1970s. These were mostly candleholders, and blanks for Fostorias etched patterns such as Navarre and Meadow Rose. However, Fostoria made very little Baroque in any of their other colors. For some reason, the exception seems to be the trindle (triple) candleholders. These are known in the transparent Amber and Green colors, as well as the jewel tone colors of Ruby, Empire (dark) Green, Burgundy (amethyst), and Regal (cobalt) Blue.

The Baroque trindle candlesticks were made in the jewel tone colors only for a few years in the mid-1930s. Based on factory price lists and factory records, Long & Seate state that the Regal Blue ones were made only from 1935 to 1937.

These will definitely be appreciated by advanced collectors of Fostoria glass, particularly by the many who like Fostorias gorgeous Regal Blue glassware. The candleholders measure approximately 5-3/4 inches high at the highest point (middle socket), 8 inches across at the widest point (from socket to socket), and 5-1/8 inches in diameter across the base. This shape is also shown in a catalog reprint on page 94. CONDITION: I have inspected these carefully, and there are no chips, cracks, scratches, sickness, or repairs.

I never use the words mint condition to describe a piece of glass, but these are in REALLY pristine condition as if never used. Any collector would be VERY pleased with them, even the perfectionist types. Please take a moment to review my feedback profile.
