Description : a fine condition antique canary glass candlestick by Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. This model has the small head & the double-step base (see Barlow & Kaiser #4055 & #4057). The #4057 example is referred to by the authors as no-eyed dolphin because the pattern is muted. The no-eyed version is most similar to the example we have for sale in this add. Barlow & Kaiser state that this is not uncommon (either the mold was not hot enough or mold worn from use) and they state it does not detract from the value.

Size : approximately 10 tall with 3.5 x 3.5 square base. Fine antique condition and is free of chips and cracks. This piece would look right at home in a glass museum or any private collection. The flaw we find is a original manufacturers defect, a pronounced (very strong) annealing line straw mark at the top of the tail (see last two photographs).

The annealing line is slightly open, like a small fissure, it is not a crack, it happened during cooling of the glass. Furthermore, it has some light age appropriate scuffs on the foot bottom, but otherwise shows minimal signs of use-wear.

Due to age, it may have slight imperfections such as minor scratches, trim wear, and/or other slight manufacturing defects. Please view all photos as they are part of this condition report. The updated invoice will have an attached message from us.
