An extremely rare and gorgeous green uranium glass console set by Hawkes Glass. The set is comprised of a console bowl measuring approximately 9" in diameter and 4 1/2" in height, and a pair of candleholders, each measuring approximately 10 1/4" in height, 5" at the base, and 3 at the top. The mark features a trefoil ring resembling a shamrock which encloses a fleur-de-lis and a pair of hawks. This acid mark began being used by Hawkes in 1902. My research shows that Hawkes was founded in 1880 and ceased operations in 1962, with a large portion of their work being done in the first decade or so of the 20th century.
The console set is a very eye-appealing light green color in regular light, and glows a fantastic, bright yellow/green under a black light. As you can see in the pictures, all 3 pieces are ornamented with an intricate berry and leaf pattern. All 3 pieces are in excellent condition for their age with no cracks. There is some very minor scratching at the base of the candlesticks and the bottom of the console bowl, none of which is noticeable except upon close inspection.
Each candlestick also has one tiny fleabite chip to the base---one on the bottom of the base, and the other along the side. I did not detect these at first upon visual inspection, but rather felt the mild roughness upon running my finger along the entire base. This may be your only opportunity to acquire a set such as this. I have done hours of online research, and have only found 1 other Hawkes console set for sale, and it was the less desirable pink color rather than the green uranium glass.
