A rare 19 century pair of candles holders, 3 arms , with blue opaline, by the famous French glass maker Baccarat. This pretty pair is ALL hand made, some remaining hand painted decoration on the opaline pieces. Every piece consists of 3 arms, the middle one consists of a heavy clear hand made cut crystal piece, resting on it an opaline blue plate with 9 hand cut crystal prisms, and on top of it the blue opaline candle holder.

In the early 20th century, the middle arm was screwed to the metal piece, but earlier it was sealed in the metal piece that holds the arms to the base. This candle holder is SEALED, that indicates its age. The right and left arms are also clear crystal hand cut, not twisted which also indicates the early technique and patterns.

All 3 arms rest on a very heavy hand cut clear crystal base, it must be very heavy to hold the top and to give equilibrium to the whole piece. There is some chips on the 2 bases, from bottom not top, also some chips to the opaline pieces. Loss of gilding on the opaline. All pieces exist, nothing missing, even the 4 bells which are usually broken, are there. I cleaned carefully both pieces.

All prisms exist in almost very good condition, some minor chips due to AGE. Each candle holder weights almost 16 lbs (7.25 kgs), this heavy weight reflects the age too. H : 25 inches (64 cm). Maximum width : 18 1/2 inches (47 cm).

Early Baccarat pieces were not stamped, which is the case here. Please see photos carefully to admire the beauty of the work. Baccarat has made a perfect marriage between light and crystal for over two and a half centuries.
