RARE Carder Steuben Verre De Soie Gold Ruby Threaded Iridescent CANDLESTICK PAIR
This listing is for three items: 2 Candlesticks. Secondary Decoration: Diamond Optic Verre de Soie. Candlesticks measurements: 6" H, top 4 1/4" dia. This item is a beautiful RARE pair of candlesticks of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York in the Verre de Soie Style of Art Glass.
The candlesticks are 6" tall, the tops are 4 1/4" diameter, and the bases are 4 1/2 in diameter. The candlesticks are decorated with a beautiful soft Gold Ruby Reeding or Threading along the top of the items. This reeding is applied to the exterior of the glass. When held to the light a very soft "Diamond Optic" background pattern shows. The iridescence is wonderful as you can see beautiful hues of fuchsia, golds, purples and blues. When you rub this piece of glass across your face it has a very silky feel to it, thus the name "Verre de Soie"."Verre de Soie" literally means "Glass of Silk". This was Frederick Carder's favorite glass. The candlesticks are considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. Both candlesticks are clearly marked with the Steuban marking - but the markings are not identical! Those of you who collect Verre de Soie and want these three excellent examples will not want to let these items slip by you!!
