Carved Wooden Angels Cherubs Putti with Glass Eyes Santos Shrine Candle Holder
Lovely carved wood cherub figural candle holder with brown glass eyes. The wood appears to be lightly gessoed and then a minimum of accent painting at the hairline and wings.
Looks like severalish Colonial pieces from South America but I cannot say for sure. This piece is unusual in terms of other Santos as it has a place for 2 taper candles at the back of the putti's heads.
This is simply a beautiful piece for your collection. It stands nearly 6" tall and is 11 1/2" wide at the widest section of the wings.
