Presenting a stunning antique blue opaline milk glass single candlestick holder produced by the quality French makers Vallerysthal Portieux PV in their highly desirable Chimeres pattern, model #6440. This exceptionally elegant piece has been produced in a divine blue opaline glass which glistens with an appealing milky opalescence. This rarer pattern is pictured on page 41 and 212 of. By Frank Chiarenza & James Slater detailing "This dazzling candlestick is well named "fantastical" or "imaginative! Embossed on the bulbous portion of the stem is a mythical bird, rather Archeopteryx like with a long curling reptilian tail and sweeping wings that taper.

The surface of the stem and the ornate base is pebbled. The socket is formed as eight flower petals.

The exquisite raised pattern and its ornately scrolled detailing magnificently accentuates the sparkle of the blue opaline glass. This perfectly proportioned piece stands proudly atop a wide and stable foot while the petal shaped rim is designed to safely catch any dripping wax.
